I love to knit/crochet...I just love to be crafty!! I began crocheting at the age of 7 when my wonderful grandmother taught me. I started reading patterns at about the age of 9. I remember having a skein of yarn and a hook, and just looking through my mom's crochet mags, they were these little itty bitty things and I would just pick a project. I would use the back of the mag to help understand the symbols and would go to my mom and grandma to learn the stitch. I would do this for hours. As I grew older and went into High school and college, not many people crocheted or knitted for that matter. I made mostly baby gifts for people, partly because most crocheted pieces of clothing looked dated. When I was pregnant with my daughter, (I have 3 kids Anthony 9, Hannah 6, and Kyle 2) I decided to teach myself to knit.
So, I am a self-taught knitter, and I LOVE IT!!! I love it so much I rarely crochet (no disrespect to the craft, just personal preference.) However, I do have a crochet club in my school that I advise. I am also a teacher when I am not being a mom or a craftor. Many reasons I started this blog is to write about my time or the lack of time for knitting. I need to let out reasons why it is not happening, or when it does happen the laundry list of things not getting done...LOL (no pun intended) Fortunately I have a wonderful husband who does pick up the slack and is very involved in our family time...but then I have guilt.
To aquire more knitting time I taught my D how to knit this summer...She also loves it. I cast on for her and she can knit, She was only 5!!! Her fine motor skills are very strong. She was tying her own shoes and putting her hair up in a ponytail at the age of three.
